Warren Buffet knows where the economy is going, even if he's not telling people directly.
Bullish billionaire Warren Buffett goes shopping for Nestlé and Wal-Mart - The Independent
Why chocolate and a discount retailer? People will always want the buzz of chocolate, and will more people will be forced to start buying 'cheaper' products.
And why did he buy a huge chuck of a railway system? The US will need to start becoming a real manufacturing country again, and less of an importer.
Not a dumb man at all.

The Men Who Stare at Goats: the power of psychic spying - Telegraph
Another random find...
The Men Who Stare at Goats: the power of psychic spying - Telegraph
"The sign on the door said ‘Remote Viewing workshop’, which didn’t give much away. It might as well have read, ‘Please abandon your logic here’.
Inside was an ordinary office meeting room, with a smiley, professional briefcase-carrying businessman preparing a training session. The contents of the workshop were less predictable. They were based on a training manual written by the military in the late 1970s, in order to train soldiers to be able to harness their paranormal powers so that they would be able to spy on the enemy, using telepathy."
"Mike Webster, the teacher leading my workshop, is one of Britain’s leading professional remote viewers. He describes his job as “perceiving people, places or events that are separated from the viewer by distance or time”, and he claims to work on a regular basis (“I usually take on an average of one case a month”), for investigations agencies including police forces and private businesses, both in the UK and America."
I'll try not to kill any goats, OK? Eh, Mike? You wouldn't happen to live in Scotland... ahhh.
The video interview is worth watching, even if the skeptical writer remains unconvinced.

Welcome Britain to the United States of Europe
Well, it is done. The Lisbon Treaty has been ratified by the Czech Republic.
I find it very humorous that the Telegraph is finally printing a decent article on the new formation of the EU, and that the Lisbon Treaty is based on the (failed) European Constitution.
Barn doors and Horses springs to mind...
Welcome all, our new Capitol is Brussels.
Lisbon Treaty: more of Britain's powers surrendered to Brussels - Telegraph
Hopefully they'll open some decent Museums... they can highlight the formation of a glorious new state.
I really really really hope the British wake to the terror that awaits in Copenhagen in December. The EU of course has already 'decided' to support the Copenhagen Treaty... wonder why I was never asked my opinion in a formal vote on either issue?
Mr. Orwell, I do hate you so.

FRONTLINE: Meltdown - FRONTLINE's ongoing series on the global financial crisis
Happy Halloween - scared now?

PBS has some great video series going right now.
I highly recommend The American Experience series - the 1930's
Frontline is also running a series on what went wrong recently. Mostly correct.

I wonder what would have happened if there was a health scare in late October of 1929? We're about to find out :-(
